Makeup Routine

FILED IN: Fall 2014

Hi everyone! I’ve had some inquiries about my makeup routine so I thought I’d share it with you all. I’ll start out by pointing out my trouble areas and then share my solutions.

Makeup 1

My routine always starts with a good moisturizer. I use Hard Night | Good Morning day cream. I follow that with the The POREfessional Primer by Benefit. If you’re anything like me and have large pores, you know the sad moment when your foundation starts to sink in your skin and all of the sudden tiny holes start to appear! By using a good primer, it builds a layer between your skin and your foundation helping the foundation to appear smooth and pore-free.
I then apply Chanel perfection lumiere foundation. This next step is the most important for me because I have intense dark circles under my eyes. My go-to concealer is my Nars Creamy Concealer. I break some makeup rules and use a concealer 2 shades lighter than my skin tone, as this creates a highlighted effect under the eyes. I then set my foundation and concealer with Nars Light Reflecting Translucent Setting Powder. Now it’s time to warm up my skin a bit- I have very fair skin so typical bronzer tends to look orange and muddy on me so I use a SHEER powder that’s two shades darker than my skin. This doesn’t work with every powder!!! I cannot stress that enough! The powder must be sheer!! I use Chanel Healthy Glow Sheer Powder on my cheeks, forehead, and nose for a natural healthy glow. As far as blush goes, I have multiple favorite blushes, and I tend to go for a soft peachy color that compliments my fair skin.

Makeup 2

I keep my eye-makeup very simple. I use Mary-Lou Manizer from The Balm from my lid to under my brow then finish it off in the corners of my eye for a little highlight. I then apply a dark brown eye shadow from Nars as my eyeliner with a thin angled brush. I only apply it to the outside corners of my eyes. I find that this gives my eyes a more open bright look. I use the same powder to fill in any sparse parts of my brows. I then use Benefit Eye Bright Highlight Pencil on my waterline to make my eyes appear even bigger and brighter.
I finish off with Two Faced LashGASM Mascara. Finally I finish off with my favorite MAC soft pink lipstick in Angel and a hint of Laura Mercier Bare Pink Gloss.
