Finding the perfect nude shoe for your skin tone

FILED IN: September 2015

The gorgeous and stylish Kate Middleton made the nude pump a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. The purpose of a nude shoe is to not only match any outfit but also elongate your leg in the process. I love a good a nude heel because it can be dressed up or dressed down so easily. I can throw a pair on with denim shorts for a casual night or a sheath dress for a dressier look. The tough thing about nudes is that we all have different shades of skin and different undertones on top of that; so matching your skin can be tricky. I try to treat finding a nude shoe similar to how I choose a foundation. First I consider the shade of my skin- am I fair, medium, or dark? Then I consider the undertones of my skin. Do I have yellow, green, or pink undertones? As we all know the wrong shade of foundation can easily make us look like we are sick. The same goes for shades of nude; the purpose is to blend in with our skin flawlessly and the wrong shade can do the opposite.

There are a ton of great designers out there who make great quality shoes in a host of nude shades, so don’t worry, it might take some searching but your shade is out there!

If you want to spend a little more, Christian Louboutin makes a fabulous nude pump in many shades of nude. For a more budget friendly option, Steve Madden makes beautiful pumps too in multiple nude shades. My favorites are Ivanka Trump’s line of pumps, they match my fair, pinky skin perfectly.

Thanks for stopping by today, y’all!

I love how you compared finding a nude to finding your foundation shade. I never thought of it that way!

Would you advise investing in a more expensive nude shoe? I’m concerned that they will mark up easily.

I have struggled to find the perfect nude bag! I totally know how you feel. It’s so frustrating! I have great nude pumps but I literally have looked everywhere for a nude my pale shade. The sales lady said Spring will have softer nudes.
